Comments

On December 31, 1943, the Whitcomb Locomotive Company received the Army-Navy Production Award, in recognition of Excellence (E) in Production of necessary war materials. During the award ceremony on the January 26, 1944, the Army-Navy "E" pennant was presented at the Whitcomb plant in Rochelle. The Whitcomb Locomotive Company maintained their outstanding record of performance for the following twelve months, earning two additional stars to be added to the Army-Navy "E" pennant.
